Neha V. Amin, O.D., F.A.A.O.

 

 

Dr. Amin is an active member of the Arizona Optometric Association. She was nominated as President-Elect in 2008 and just completed her reign as President of the Arizona Optometric Association in 2010. She was recognized as Young Optometrist of the Year in 2008.  She was chairman of the Diabetic Expo Committee and Walk for Diabetes for several years, organizing vision screenings, informational booths and recruiting volunteers. Dr. Amin also volunteers yearly to do free eye exams for the athletes competing in the local Special Olympics.

In 1997, she traveled to El Salvador with the Lions Club on a medical mission trip to provide optometric care. Free eye examinations were provided to hundreds of patients; many of whom had never seen well in their lifetimes. Glasses were given to those in need.

Dr. Amin graduated on the Dean's List from Indiana University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Psychology. She then attended and graduated with honors from the University of Missouri School of Optometry. Dr. Amin received awards of achievement in the fields of both contact lenses and vision therapy. She has been involved in contact lens research and received a grant for work on a research article discussing the use of rigid gas permeable contact lenses to slow the progression of nearsightedness.

Dr. Amin loves spending time with her husband and 2 boys, traveling, running, and most sports. Plus, having grown up in Indiana, she has the requisite basketball obsession needed to live there.

Carissa Swanson, O.D.

Carissa Swanson, O.D.

Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Swanson attended Marist College and graduated on the Dean’s List.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-med and earned her Paralegal certificate.  After graduation, Dr. Swanson moved cross-country to attend Optometry school at the Southern California College of Optometry School.  

During her rotations, Dr. Swanson was an extern at various types of Optometric practices.  She worked at the Veterans’’ Hospital in Tucson, seeing and working with Low vision patients at the rehabilitation center.  She worked on an Indian Reservation in Oregon, serving the Native American population.  On her rotation back in California, she externed at the TLC laser center, also performing school screenings at local schools. 

Upon graduation, she moved to Arizona.  In 2010, she became an associate at Advanced Vision and Achievement Center.  She sees a wide age range of patients from pediatric patients to elderly.

Dr. Swanson is an active member of the America Optometric Association.  She is involved in many hobbies, such as traveling, sewing, and running.  She also loves to cook and enjoys taking cooking classes.
